NEUROSCIENCE MEETS THE NEXT GENERATION OF INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

NeuroScouting is led by neuroscientists Dr. Wesley Clapp and Dr. Brian Miller. Merging their passion for sports with deep interest in the neural basis of elite performance, they started NeuroScouting in 2007 with the mission of bringing the latest neuroscience advances out of the lab and into actionable tools in the real world.

 Through years of collaborative partnerships in professional sports, NeuroScouting has developed a multi-dimensional assessment-intervention platform that enhances both scouting and player development with neuroscience-based technologies. Over the last fifteen years, NeuroScouting has collected, analyzed, and cataloged neural performance metrics from tens of thousands of professional athletes, delivered custom training protocols to thousands more and has been awarded NIH grants for ongoing work extending components of this platform to clinical targets in brain health.

NeuroScouting's multidisciplinary team also integrates expert computer scientists, video game developers, artists, data scientists and bioengineers. While this intersection of expertise underlies the development arc of the company's technical R&D, the founders work closely with the board of directors and world leading scientific advisors to identify key priorities for executing on its mission to help meet the brain health and performance challenges of tomorrow.

THE SCIENCE OF ELITE PERFORMANCE

Neurotechnology for sports and elite athletes

Although an athlete may excel in the physical dimensions of their respective sport, it has been challenging to both evaluate and optimize the neural components of performance that are required to maximize those physical abilities in the face of intense read-and-react contexts at the elite level. Through cutting-edge research partnerships in pro sports, NeuroScouting has developed sensitive diagnostics to evaluate key neural systems directly linked with elite athletic ability (e.g. hand-eye coordination). These neural-based analytics offer sports teams a new class of objective data to assist in player evaluation and projection. NeuroScouting’s technology also helps players build these capacities by combining its diagnostic platform with immersive training experiences tailored to mirror situational contexts on the field. These individualized training platforms evolve with the player over time allowing them to take “reps” that drive meaningful neural change with no wear and tear on the body.

Through its work with pro athletes, NeuroScouting has developed innovative classes of tools that break new ground in optimizing brain-body circuits in the service of performance and nervous system health. NeuroScouting is actively bringing these tools into the healthcare sector, with ongoing R&D focused on tailoring these platforms for multiple clinical end points.

NeuroScouting partners with leading brain health researchers, clinicians, physical rehabilitation centers, and partner R&D labs both domestically and internationally in order to conduct research studies and further expand the impact of these technologies in clinical practice and non-pharmacological interventions. NeuroScouting's work is multi-disciplinary at its core, with R&D spanning the fields of neuroscience, bioengineering, data science, and front/backend software engineering. This dynamic mix of in-house expertise combines with world class input from NeuroScouting’s growing external partnerships in both medical and sports communities to form the collective DNA that drives the company's human-centric technology development process forward. NeuroScouting’s mission is to channel this expertise and its growing technology platform to meet the biggest challenges that lay ahead in translational neuroscience and brain health.

NeuroScouting is a small, but growing, team that empowers employees to have broad impact across all the stages of design, development, and deployment of its evolving platform. In this versatile environment, each team member will often fill multiple roles to cover different aspects of the development process. Working in a tight knit group facilitates a more collaborative and collectively creative design style.
